Pot in Pot Recipe: Grits and Oats in Instant Pot ( 2 in 1 !)



For Oats:

1 cup steel cut oats

2 tablespoon palm sugar

1 pinch of salt

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup milk

½ cup cream

1.5 cups water


For Grits:

½ cup stone ground grits

1 pinch of salt

1 chunk of cheddar cheese

1 cup cream

1 cup water

1 tablespoon butter


  1. Take all ingredients for Oats in an ekovana pan and mix well.
  2. Take all ingredients listed for grits to the second ekovana pan and mix well.
  3. Stack the pans with oats on the bottom and grits on top.
  4. Add 1 cups water to the pressure cooker main pot.
  5. Places the stacked ekovana pans inside the pressure cooker using the easy lift handles.
  6. To the pressure cooker main pot add 1.5 cups water, lower the stacked pans and close the pressure cooker and set vent in sealing position.
  7. Cook on manual/ high for 10 mins and allow the pressure to release naturally.
  8. Remove stacked pans. Open the pans and mix the contents. Creamy Oats and grits are perfectly cooked.
  9. Garnish with toppings of your choice. Oats and grits ready for your breakfast!

Try different variation by tweaking the ingredients to your taste.
